3 Tips When Purchasing Equipment
These tips will help show beginners ways to obtain the necessary skill-set, and get equipped to succeed in hockey.
Choosing the right stick length
When choosing a ice hockey stick, it’s important to take your height into consideration. If a stick is too long or too short, then this will put unnecessary stress on your body. A specialist store should be able to determine what the best stick is for you. It's important to note that different positions require different stick lengths. Defensemen have longer sticks then offence men.

Making sure to purchase the correct skate size
When buying skates, make sure they are a snug fit but not so tight that they cramp your toes. They must also provide good ankle support. Skate sizes are usually a half to one whole size smaller than players’ regular shoe sizes.

Take time to get adjusted and comfortable with your equipment
As you get kitted out in your hockey gear, be prepared for the fact that it may initially feel uncomfortable or interfere with your mobility. If that’s the case, give yourself time to see if you become used to it. We recommend that you practice several times with your new equipment prior to using it in a game.
