Offensive Defensemen

Defensemen play behind the forwards and are tasked with stopping opposing forwards. In the defensive end, they clear space in front of the net, cover the space in the corners and move the puck out of the zone; in the offensive zone they are typically situated just inside the blue-line. Offensive defensemen are fast, and eager to get involved in the offensive aspect of the game.

Skill-Set:

1) Fast skating (both forward and backwards)

2) Quick ability to pivot

3) Good ability to pass

4) Communication 

5) Good Slap-shot

Defensive Defenceman

Defensemen play behind the forwards and are tasked with stopping opposing forwards. In the defensive end, they clear space in front of the net, cover the space in the corners and move the puck out of the zone; in the offensive zone they are typically situated just inside the blue-line. Defensive defensemen have a strong commitment to defence, and don't engage in offence as much.

1) Backwards skating

2) Body checking

3) Defensive awareness

4) Communication 

5) Good Slap-shot
